Isaiah Lineberry may have just invented a groundbreaking technique in the sport of wrestling.
Inthe video below, the 4-year-old’stechnique seems pretty obvious, but still unexpected: your opponent can’t beat you if they can’t catch you.
This hilarious video, shot in Pennsylvania, surfaced recently, showing the young Lineberry competing in his first ever wrestling tournament.
Lineberry has wrestling in his blood: His father was a wrestler in high school, and his stepfather is on the coaching staff for the wrestling team at the Ohio State University.
So his pedigree preceded him before the match.
The video below, captured by his grandma, shows Lineberry facing off against his opponent: a 5-year-old girl.
Lineberry and the little girl getinto position, but once the referee signals them to start, Lineberry takesoff!
The little boy literally runscircles around the ring, with the little girl chasing after him.
The crowd bursts into laughter, and even the referee can’tcontain his smile.
After a couple of laps, Lineberry and the girl makeit back to center ring and beginto wrestle. But once she getsthe upper hand, there goesLineberry again!
It getsto the point where the little girl looks toward the crowd and shrugs.
“I asked him afterwards, ‘So why did you run?’” recalled his mother Alexis Salyers toABC News. “And he said, ‘I don’t know mommy but it was silly.”’
She suspects that the little girl’s sheer size might have intimidated her son.
Or perhaps he was just trying to tire her out!
But Lineberry hasn’t let the defeat set him back in fact, he’s competed in several matches since.
